Masters of Science in Materials Engineering is a mixed-mode postgraduate academic programme which specializes on materials structures, properties, processing and characterisation techniques. The main objective for the establishment of this programme is to produce postgraduates in the field of materials engineering with specialization in materials to fulfil the need of Malaysia's modern industries such as manufacturing and production, research and development work, maintenance and disposal, education etc. The programme equips students with sufficient materials engineering knowledge and soft skills to enable them to work effectively, not only toward their degree but also to deal with problems encountered in an increasingly competitive technological world

Program Introduction

General Info:
Combination of coursework and research activity. Ideal program for engineering, science and technology graduate or workers who aspire for career enhancement in a challenging worldwide environment. The program addresses the importance and necessities in materials engineering and also covers real case studies, industrial visit, coloration, research projects and attending colloquiums. Graduates shall be equipped to perform in the government sectors and various industries such as composites, polymer, metals, ceramics, chemical, oil and gas, transportation, and others.

Semester Intake:
1 Year Programme. The program is available for Semester 1 (September) intake and Semester 2 (February) intake.

Minimum requirements of Application

  1. Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology or Science from local or international institutions recognized by UTHM Senate, with CGPA ≥ 2.75.
  2. Applicants with CGPA < 2.75 but 2.50 must pass through internal assessment.
  3. Applicants with CGPA < 2.50 must have at least five years work experience in related engineering fields.
  4. Applicants with APEL-T7 qualification can be accepted. 
  5. Minimum score of TOEFL 500 or 5 IELTS or Band 3.5 MUET or equivalent English courses.
